29/04/2019 by Orchard Live

We are very excited to announce that 9Bach are coming out on tour this October to coincide with the re-release of the remastered album “9Bach” (Real World Records) which is out later this year. The tour will see the band take their critically acclaimed self-titled debut for the out on the road very first time. The folk outfit will stop off at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff (22) and Aberystwyth Arts Centre (23) this October as part of their UK tour, tickets will go on sale 9am on Wednesday the 1st of May through ticketmaster.co.uk and 24 hours earlier through 02 Priority.

The album, which recasts traditional Welsh folk songs onto a spectral and haunting sound canvas will sees them tour several venues across the UK , offering audiences a rare chance to see this stunning act live. It garnered critical praise upon its release -

“Cool exquisite vocals dominate the album “ ****    The Guardian
“Lisa Jen has a voice of mountain-brook purity.” Metro
“fragments of traditional Welsh music & contemporary tension.” Drowned in Sound

Songs that take you to the North Wales landscape, filled with emotion as the heart and sould of each story is revealed through compelling and exquisitely sung narrative. Etheral voices and dubby beats combine with harp, guitar harmonium and extremely smart arrangements.

Formed by Martin Hoyland (Pusherman) and Lisa Jen (vocal collaborator with Gruff Rhys/Public Service Broadcasting), when Martin over-heard Lisa singing in her kitchen!, the band’s first gig was at Greenman in 2005 with their first request for a cd being from Bonnie Prince Billy. Since then they have collaborated with artists all over the world, received rave reviews and played global stages, yet they have never toured this album! These shows come highly recommended, you can listen to the original recording of 9Bach here.
