01/05/2019 by Orchard Live

West End legend John Owen-Jones (Phantom/Les Miserables) has announced two dates at Clarence Hall, Crickhowell (7) and Newbridge Memo (8) this July, in support of his fifth studio album Spotlight. Tickets will go on sale 10am Friday the 3rd of May through ticketmaster.co.uk.

Not content with simply performing live, John continues to release album after album of entrancing highlights from his brilliant career. ‘Spotlight’ will feature John’s unique take on tracks from musicals and more, with music performed by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

The first single is ‘The Prayer’ - A duet with Lucie Jones (X Factor/Eurovision).  John has performed with Lucie many times in concert, but this track marks the first time they will have collaborated in the studio. John says “I’ve always been a huge fan of Lucie’s work and her versatile voice shines on this track. I’m really excited for people to hear how good we sound together!’ John was busy last year, in between recording and mixing sessions for his new album in London, he guested with Katherine Jenkins, appeared in Tokyo both in concert and as The Phantom, toured Wales with his solo show and then performed on a musical theatre cruise with Michael Ball, Beverley Knight and more. He ended the year working closely with two of the greatest living musical theatre composers - Claude-Michel Schonberg and Andrew Lloyd Webber. BBC Radio Wales had a special, ‘John Owen-Jones – Home For Xmas’ which ran on Xmas day.

At just 26, John became the youngest actor ever to play the role of ‘Jean Valjean’ in the West End and was the first British actor to play the role both in the West End and on Broadway. John Owen-Jones has also played the role of ‘The Phantom’ in ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ nearly 2000 times - more than any other actor in the history of the West End production. John has released four albums, ‘John Owen-Jones’ in 2009, ‘Unmasked’ in 2012, ‘Rise’ in 2015, and ’Bring Him Home’ in 2016.

If you're a musical theatre fan and haven't seen John peform live before, then don't miss out.
